Tribe is Widgifying.
For those of you that live in a hole and do not follow the gospel laid down by brother Pete Cashmore at Mashable, check out the new site redesign at Tribe. According to Pete, they are now enabling their end users to leverage Widgets (they call ‘em modules) to personalize their social spaces…
Either way, good luck to Mark Pincus and his crew. We wish you the best of luck!

The biggest change, however, is a Netvibes-style homepage, allowing you to drag and drop various modules like your friend’s photos and blog entries, your tribes, upcoming events, your del.icio.us bookmarks, RSS feeds, personal notes and links. The homepage is separate from your existing public profile page, which already allowed users to add videos from YouTube and Google Video, display photos, import blog entries and more.I checked it out and found the interface to be a bit primitive at present. It seems that they do not allow you to import/export at present from what I found. That being said, I am hopeful that under their new (old) leadership, Tribe will continue to innovate around this feature area. The site already discusses that they are going to work on the export functionality. Surprised they picked THAT first.
Sexy Widget

While surfing the Widgetsphere, I found this cool blog discussing Widgets called - you guessed it - Sexy Widget! This blog is brought to you by the self-styled widget aficionado, Lawrence Coburn and offers in depth reviews of some of the hottest new Widgets. His reviews follow the format:

For those of you that have had your head in the sand, you should definitely check out emerging discussions on WidgetCon - the conference on Widgets! See below for the play-by-play on the evolving story. If this event happens - which looks likely given the demand - the historical evolution of the conference will be something interesting to remember. It is definitely growing in a manner that is consistent with the collective participation theme that pervades the Web 2.0 movement.
Dare puts out interest in a Widget Conference in a P.S. statement posted on a rather loaded post on the nature of Web 2.0 Conferences
Om kindly volunteers to host Dare and others at an informal event. Seth from Meebo and a bunch of others (including Clearspring) volunteer to throw in some help.
The man with his ear to the ground, Marc C, starts to get the word out (he is good at that).
Tim Post, Widget enthusiast extraordinare, is now also spreading the word. I am just waiting for Steve Rubel, Fred Wilson, and Mike Arrington to start chatting on it. I am excited to help in any way to make this event a success. Should be good times.
